Jason Dawson is of Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Whātua descent and currently Chief Executive of Hamilton & Waikato Tourism. Jason completed his MBA at the University of Waikato and has extensive experience working in the local government sector, education, investment banking, technology, agriculture and tourism industries. He has been a strong and passionate advocate for the mighty Waikato and its people through education, business support, economic development and lifting the profile of the region’s strengths and opportunities.

Jason is a Trustee of Graeme Dingle Foundation Waikato (Waikato Youth Empowerment Trust), Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival Trust and a director of Kia Puawai Limited – a social enterprise established by Annah Stretton to deliver well-being programmes to those most in need. He was also a project governance member for The Waikato Story and advisory group for the establishment of Waikato’s first Regional Economic Development Agency (REDA) – Te Waka: Anga Whakamua Waikato.
